Ciara Braun, MA, LPC, NCC
Ciara Braun earned a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from Oakland University and a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is currently enrolled in the prestigious post-graduate Sex Therapy and Education program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and is trained as a sex therapist and relationship counselor. Ciara is a licensed professional counselor and credentialed as a National Certified Counselor. She has been in the psychotherapy field for 10 years. She has expertise in working with adults and couples of all backgrounds and sexual orientations.
Ciara has additional hours of training in Couples Counseling and has completed Level 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and uses Gottman Method Couples Therapy in her work. She specializes in relationship difficulties such as poor communication, conflict management, trust, infidelity or cheating, low intimacy, desire discrepancies or sexual difficulties, marital separation and divorce recovery. She also provides individual therapy with an emphasis on anxiety, mood disorders, self-esteem, and relationships.
Ciara’s counseling approach is very directive and structured incorporating weekly homework, worksheets, treatment planning, and developing tools and techniques for client improvement outside of session. Her style utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the Gottman Method, and Motivational Interviewing strategies that are goal-oriented and evidence-based. She believes that by overcoming negative thoughts and behaviors, clients can make positive changes in the way they feel and interact with others.
