Ciara Braun earned a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from Oakland University and a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She graduated from the prestigious post-graduate Sex therapy and education program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and relationship specialist. Ciara is also a licensed professional counselor and credentialed as a National Certified Counselor. She has been in the psychotherapy field for 10 years. She has expertise in working with adults and couples from various backgrounds and sexual orientations.
Ciara has advanced specialty training in couples counseling and has completed the Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) externship and Level 3 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy which she uses in her work. She is also a Beyond Affairs Infidelity Recovery Coach and specializes in recovery from infidelity, cheating, poor communication, conflict management, low intimacy, desire discrepancies or sexual difficulties, marital separation and divorce recovery. She also provides individual therapy with an emphasis on self-esteem and relationships.
Ciara’s counseling approach is very directive and structured incorporating weekly homework, worksheets, treatment planning, and developing tools and techniques for client improvement outside of session. Her style utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EFT, the Gottman Method, and Motivational Interviewing strategies that are goal-oriented and evidence-based. She believes that by overcoming negative thoughts and behaviors, clients can make positive changes in the way they feel and interact with others.
